Driving miles to go to pick up a pint of hormone filled, gm-fed milk, living in an overheated house running appliances non-stop, not knowing (much less trusting) your neighbours, barely talking to your over stressed and commercially stimulated children, this is the world we live in now and this is considered
normal. For years my husband and I always had a sick feeling at the bottom of our stomachs which only bloated when we had a child. The answer to all problems these days just seems to be more consumption, to deny it makes us weird and in denial. With so many problems in the world it's daunting where to begin, how to start, where to go.
It just takes one small step a time.
We won't be self sufficient in a day. We won't be energy independent in a week. And we can't do it by ourselves. Just one small step to save, to say no, to talk, to connect. This is just one of the small steps we are taking. What are yours?
