Hi Ann. Glad to see you here and already making new connections! Please also consider joining the Transition Milwaukee group (click Communities > Milwaukee above) so that you receive announcements regarding Milwaukee area projects & events. At some point Milwaukee may gets its own Ning site, but for now we are using this area to discuss & communicate.

So far with community composting, I am taking the individual business manager approach. Tomorrow I will be calling the manager of Pick-n-Save who appears to be interested in 'being green' and talk to him about composting the throw away produce. I plan on talking to the restaurants and coffee shops also. More formally, I may introduce it at the Conservation Committee meeting as a project. Thoughts? Also, I would love to hear about stimulus, the sooner the better! Our WE energies bill was outrageous last month. Let me know what works for you! Do you want to work on gardening in your yard?

Hi Ann - thanks for finding me. We are in the initial planning stages as a group in Shorewood, but would love to get a strong core group and really begin to make some changes. I am currently working on the Victory Garden Initiative in Shorewood and Milwaukee. I am working on an urban ag program at SHS. I am working on getting a film series going for adolescents and parents. I have also been looking for ways to develop a community compost. We would like to get our steering committee more formalized and divide into action groups. We would love to have you join us. What are your thoughts on this? Also, perhaps you could do some work for us on our home, we want to get out house in order before we start expecting others to :) Im looking forward to talking with you more. ~ Gretchen
